It was a few years back that I moved to the Philippines. Being an avid sport angler for more than three decades. I was excited to see how the fishing in the Philippines, specifically Cebu, would be. Like the typical tourist, we went to the local pier and inquired about fishing. All the boatmen claimed to know where the fish were and how to catch them. We accepted one offer from a boat owner to use his services for 4-hours at a whopping P6,000. We soon come to find out the gentleman had absolutely no clue of where the fish were. Much less, could offer no recommendations on how we should set up our gear.

The next attempt, we decided to increase our odds of having a successful catch and chartered with what was considered a professional out fit for half a days woth of sport angling. We ended up spending more than P30,000 on fuel and the boat rental and was guided by a boat captain who really wasn't that experienced (a year later we found out the gentleman to really be a cook who just happened to be available). We caught a 50 gram fish that wasn't worth more than bait. Food and snacks were included but no fishing gear.

It took a whole year for us to eventually speak to the right people and learn of the proper techniques and where to fish. With many a successful fishing trips in the Visayas we started planning. We've come to learn that fishing in the Philippines is very technical, which was very exciting to me. We've come to learn about the habitat of the fish and the areas they breed and migrate through.

We've also come to learn that many people visiting the Philippines had the exact same result I encountered the first year I lived here. You spend thousands of dollars and catch practically nothing.

This is where we made it our mission, no longer will be the days that visitors to the Philippines will get taken for their time and money. We partnered up with value oriented resorts, boat owners, fishing guides and tackle shops in order to bring that value to our patrons. Granted, a catch is never guaranteed, but should you decide to choose Cebu Sport Fishing, we'll get you set straight with the local professionals that will do all they can to make sure you have an exciting time sport fishing.

About Cebu

Often called the "Queen City of the South" and the Seat of Christianity in the Philippines, Cebu is the country's oldest city. Exploring Cebu City, one encounters a rich historic past. Cebuanos are extremely proud of their cultural and historical heritage, a legacy which has endured thru the centuries from the time the great explorer Ferdinand Magellan first planted the cross on Cebu's shore.

Time has been kind to Cebu. From Zubu, the fishing village and busy trading port in 1521 has evolved a highly urbanized metropolitan center which now serves as focal point of growth and development in Southern Philippines. With its five cities; Cebu, Danao, Lapulapu Mandaue and Toledo; and its 48 smaller towns, Cebu. has more than kept pace with the nation's progress. Today ' the island province leads in traditional and non-traditional exports and has the highest economic growth rate anywhere in the country. Likewise, recent indications pointed out that Cebu has become the country's most favorite tourist destination.

In contrast to the bustling metropolis, the rest of Cebu's 167 islets and islands are lined with idyllic white sandy beaches and pristine clear waters. Cebu. has gained wide popularity for its fantastic diving grounds evidenced by the proliferation of resorts which offer luxurious accommodations, excellent dive facilities and the services of competent dive masters and dive guides.

Cebu's strategic location makes it ideal for those who wish to travel to the other islands and provinces. By plane, boat or bus, nowhere could be too far from CEBU.
