Pizza Eating Challenge - CebuSportFishing vs. LivinginCebu Forums
by admin on Jun.27, 2010, under Food
I have served a Pizza Eating challenge to Paul of Living in Cebu Forums and he accepted.
There will be a pizza eating contest between BigRob (CebuSportFishing) and Paul (LivinginCebu Forums) to happen towards the end of July. Right now we’re working the details on the venue, but it more than likely will be Micheangelo’s or Tap Room in Banilad, Cebu. The challenge will be to see who can consume the most pizza in 15-minutes.
Free Beer will be offered to the spectators during the contest. We’re also trying to see if we can get free soda’s for the people that order pizza’s (Usually run P250 for a big pizza with real mozzerella and deli toppings!)

CLUB FISHING TRIP - Schedule for April 25th, 2010
by admin on Apr.03, 2010, under Uncategorized
Everyone, the SPORT FISHING CLUB of CEBU will be having its next Fishing Outing in Mactan this coming April 25th. This is three days after the new moon so we expect the fishing to be excellent. Our recent charter have been pulling in some fantastic catches, so we are very hopefuly for a continued result.
This is a great… opportunity for those of you interested in trying fishing in the open waters of Mactan and Cebu for a really low price! For only P910/person, you can take part in a fun filled fishing trip and have a chance at winning the P1,000 Gift Certificate raffled off on every monthly club fishing trip!
You would only need to bring your own meals (snacks and drinks) and your own fishing tackle. The club will provide the boat, bait and the assistance of the Fishing Guide to help us catch some nice fish! If you do not have your own fishing gear let us (Cebu Sport Fishing or TCE Tackles) know and we will see if we can help you out.

So don’t forget to visit TCE Tackles in Mandaue (near the old bridge and down the street from Monark CAT, Mandaue side) to secure your seat.

Sport Fishing Club of Cebu - Monthly Fishing Trip
by admin on Jan.27, 2010, under Cebu Sport Fishing
The fishing trip this past Sunday for the Sport Fishing Club of Cebu was a blast!
We caught more than 25 fish, the rest we threw back for being too small. The fish averaged in weight from a few hundred grams up to 2-kilos.
There were a total of 16-guests consisting of Club Members, locals and expats. So the boat was to full capactiy. We’re expecting almost double the number of people for the next club fishing trip so please visit TCE Tackles in Mandaue to secure your seat! The next Club Fishing trip will be Sunday, February 21st, 2010.

Guess What? It’s 2010 and the new Fishing Season is upon us!
by admin on Jan.06, 2010, under Cebu Sport Fishing
What a great new year! We had a little rain on the eve of New Years but nothing much that would dampen the holiday spirit. What’s even more exciting is that we’re at the Apex of the slow season and the 2010 fishing season is upon us! Wahooooo!!!
We’ve got some small charters booked for the last half of the month and don’t forget that we are one of the HOST’s for the upcoming Fishing Trip for the local club (The Sport Fishing Club of Cebu).
We’re also expecting a little visit from a couple friends from UK that own resorts here in the Philippines. What does this mean? Cebu Sport Fishing will be expanding its charter services to more areas! At least we hope to do so by June. So expect to see us offering charters in Dumaguette, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Subic Bay, Sta. Ana Cagayan, Laiya Batangas and Leyte…just to name a few!
In addition, you will see more Family Oriented charters for our partner’s resort in Daanbantayan and Oslob. We hope you get to Cebu soon and have some fun with us!

Hanging out in Southern Cebu
by admin on Dec.20, 2009, under Cebu Sport Fishing
Michelle and I drove down to Moalboal this past weekend. We were invited to hang out with the gang at the Roxy Dance Hall for a Christmas party. We didn’t get to make the 2-hour drive from Cebu City to Moalboal till late but was able to make it there around 10PM.
We had fun, the food was great, the people were amusing. The bartender there must not be familiar with many of the cocktails and drinks because when I ordered a “screwdriver” I had to tell them the ingredients. (Vodka and Orange Juice). The drink that was served was not a typically screwdriver. For some reason she confused it for an Orange Shake and mixed it with Vodka…I guess I’ll call it the ‘Moal Boal Shaker’ from now on.
Afterwards, we drove the hour over to Oslob so I could visit some guests we had at the Fishing Lodge there. The weather was rough, strong winds blowing from the South South East causing some pretty choppy waters. That combined with the current made it difficult for trolling. They tried some deep bottom fishing at the artificial reefs (300+ meters) but the current was so strong it was even able to cause the 1-kilo sinkers to drift far from the boat, good thing they were using their big 11/0 sized electric reels. One of the guests said they noticed a big tuna in the water off the side of the boat…just too bad none were biting.
Even though the guests struck out this trip, they were still happy since Esta’s did a great job at hosting their stay and kept them (and me) filled with all the fantastic food. As I’ve always said…I mainly go to Oslob to eat, second to fish. So we took them back to Cebu City for a short Day Tour and stopped at a few of the places for souvenir’s and trinkets to take back home with them. Before heading to the airport they stopped in for a relaxing “Filipino Style” massage and are planning to come back so they can hit Siargao during bill-fish season early 2010.
One other thing to mention is that we were finally able to get a second boat for out charters! So now, Cebu Sport Fishing will now be able to have over-lapping fishing charters in Oslob. This new craft we have is also a diving boat, it’s large enough for 7-divers (7-fishermen w/ gear) and has a diesel motor capable of getting us to places like Siquior, Dumaguete and even Bohol for diving and fishing!

Diving in Oslob can be cool!
